Which clubs lean hardest on their first unit?

2026-27 · measured from NHL shift charts and play-by-play

By Rich Jasinski · 1 October 2026 · updated nightly while the season runs

San Jose's first unit is on the ice for 91.7% of the club's power-play time — 5:19 a game, the heaviest lean in the league. Philadelphia's first unit gets 54.4%.

Share is the concentration signal a fantasy manager wants: a big share puts the club's whole power play on five rosterable names, and a small one spreads the same minutes across seven or eight.

How this is measured

Share is every second the club spent on the power play, split by which measured unit was on the ice. First-unit minutes per game is the same lean stated absolutely rather than relatively; the two columns rank almost but not exactly alike, because clubs draw different numbers of power plays.
